HOW QUICKLY WE FORGET ....IF WE EVER KNEW ..... WHY WOMEN SHOULD VOTE
This is the story of our grandmothers and great-grandmothers;
they lived only 90 years ago.
Remember, it was not until 1920 that women were granted
the right to go to the polls and vote.
The women were innocent and defenseless, but they were jailed
nonetheless for picketing the White House, carrying signs asking
for the vote.
And by the end of the night, they were barely alive.
Forty prison guards wielding clubs and their warden's blessing
went on a rampage against the 33 women wrongly convicted of
'obstructing sidewalk traffic.'
Yes I am and I always have. As we are a new subdivision, we have someone campagning at my door every evening.

Up until a few years ago, I never voted. It wasn't until someone said to me during conversation, "did you vote", to which I replied "no." My friend then said, "well, what gives you the right to complain, then?". It's true. If you don't vote, you have given up your right to complain about what the government is doing.

I make it a point not to complain because I don't vote...and I figure if I want the right to complain I'd better vote for someone!

I understand where people are coming from. It is hard to feel informed when most of our television networks are American and all we here about is there election. I do encourage everyone to Vote. The simple act of marking a ballot tells our leaders what we think about decisions that affect our lives, such as how much taxation we think is fair or what issues (such as health care, child care, or the environment) we think are most important.
By participating in an election and by expressing our point of view, we help our society work. By agreeing or disagreeing with our leaders we show that the political system can accept differing points of view and can resolve them. By not voting, we break the connection between individual Canadians and their community.
Voting helps to safeguard our freedoms. A democratic community can only survive if its citizens see participation in the political process as a duty and a responsibility.
I admit I am bias to one party but feel I can summarize most of the stances taken by the leading parties without showing my bias. If you have questions on anything please feel free to contact me. I really hope that more people vote this year and would love to help out (even if it's not for my choice).

I don't bother voting, when the politicians promise to do so much, but once they have won, they don't do anything.

By not voting don't you feel you are throwing your voice away. It takes society to make change but if we don't do anything things will be at a stand still. Speak up vote. Take a stand

I agree I should be more aware of what is going on in our country I just find the US debates and politics more interesting.

Yes, we all should be aware and interested with what is going on in our country and we should also be interested with what goes on in the US because it always ends up affecting us. I also believe we should all vote. People complain about things that go on but if you don't vote your voice will not be heard. Your vote matters :)
