We just started swimming lessons yesterday at the ymca, and my son, Austin, loves it. He's always been a huge fan of water, and has no fear of it, so I thought it would be good for him to learn some basic techniques.

My daughter (3 months old) and I are attending Mother Goose, which combines story telling, puppetry and songs with action; for parents and babies from 0 to 12 months old.

My little one is going to be in dance class for the first time and she is so excited.

My doctor advised not to expose my daughters to clorine until the age of two. He mentions that it can cause asthma in the future.
All the views I hear are conflicting so i'm not sure...

We're always make sure Jack is rinsed off when we get out of the pool...all the kids in my family have been in pools since they were tiny and we've not seen any kind of effects from it. But whatever you choose will be best for your little ones.

If what your doctor says disturbs you, you may want to investigate facilities that do not use chlorine, rather other means of ridding bacteria and such from the water. For example, the community rec center in Airdrie, Alberta is one of these newer, chlorine free and environmentally aware facilities.

My daughter has asthma, we spend lots of time at sick kids and not one of her specialtists has ever said that.

I would like to introduce her to swimming but i'm not sure yet. I plan to register her for Kindergym though where she can stretch herself.

We are lucky enough to have access to an indoor pool at my mom's condo so Jack was exposed to the water at a very early age. Everyone in our family are very big swimmers so I'm sure he'll be a water baby like his father and I.

I started my son in swimming when he was 7 months old, and he absolutely loved it! At this age, obviously, the program is parented (it is good exercise for mom too), but I believe that our participation in swimming from the start has contributed to his confidence in the water. Good luck with whatever you do, and have a wonderful fall!

We will be in playschool twice/week and the Gymboree Level 7 program once/week. I would love to fit in some swimming too, but with driving, three activities each week seem to be our limit.

Jack will be starting swimming lessons in a few weeks. We're so excited, he loves to be in the water!

Peter (2 yrs 4 months) started his music class on Monday, he starts at Riverdale Kids Little Kicks next week and I hope to get a spot in a swimming program as well. Once he gets into the water, it's hard to get him out.
Between pre-school 3 afternoons a week and the drop-in, we'll have a full schedule this Fall.
