Winter is full of wonderful sounds, the kettle whistle for hot chocolate, the start of a great movie, my slippers on the hardwood...yes I am an "indoor girl". Maybe it is because I was born in Vancouver and it just not in my blood to enjoy the cold. Or maybe from years in Calgary where you have plug in your car and they cancel school because it is just too damn cold. Or maybe I'm just getting soft in my old age.
As a mom of two snow lovin' kids and two snow lovin' dogs I do find myself venturing out to "enjoy" the winter wonderland. This year I have a new element to worry about, a big baby belly. How do I keep warm without borrowing my hubby's coat or looking like sausage in my regular winter coat? At the Sweetmama.ca Spa-a-thon event this past fall I met Bessi from MCoat. I had just found out I was prego with baby #3 and hadn't even thought about how I was going to make it through my first winter with a baby belly.
Well I timed this baby just right with the launch of the MCoat, the hottest maternity coat made in Canada. What makes this coat so awesome for prego mamas this winter? It is actually three coats in one.
The first is the regular Canadian spirit down filled hooded coat that you can wear before your zipper gives out to your belly and after your baby is out in the world.
The second is the belly stage where the coat comes with a very cool panel that zips in to allow for your belly to fit comfortably but also stay warm and stylin'.
The third I just love, this makes this coat PERFECT for Canadian moms on the go. The MCoat panel flips around so that the coat perfectly fits OVER your baby in a carrier. Not only does this keep your baby warm in your coat, it allows you to nurse in the coat and once you have gone indoors you can take the coat off without having to take your baby out of the carrier (because they always seem to be asleep so you melt while shopping or visiting).
I am currently enjoying the first phase of the coat but it will only be a few more weeks before I break out the panel and give my baby belly the room and warmth it deserves!
Please share how you found this information:
This is my personal opinion

I saw something similar to this on TV once (maybe it was the same - I just can't remember)... what a fantastic idea!! Anything that is multi-functional is so smart! During my first pregnancy I *tried* to wear my wool coat for the winter... I did, but completely stratched it out!! So much for saving money, I ended up having to buy another coat the following year.

That is awesome. If #3 is decided on I will have to get one, time of year depending I guess.

Maureen!
I didn't even know you were expecting #3! I still hope to have 3 kids eventually... heeheh..
The coat sounds FABULOUS! I remember when I was pregnant I had to button the top buttons of my coat and leave my belly "exposed". So funny.
:)

I was so lucky to fit in my coat throughout the winter although this winter I am finding it stretched from my pregnancy last winter! Lovely dogs!

I am an indoor gal in the winter too! I find it soo hard to get out in all the snow and cold! Especially trying to figure out how to bundle a wee one is a new adventure! I drink soo much more tea in the winter I crave hot drinks! The weather is going to plummet into frigid cold temps this week so I will be staying in! Time to go rent some movies or shows!
