I swote that my son would never sleep with us. Yeah, that lasted less than one week. He still sleeps with me and he is four.

My daugher slept in our bed for the first 3 months then we moved her to her crib with much protest. Now she sleeps so much better (10 - 12 hour stretches at night) and really good naps too. I'm glad we fought the fight with her now!

I think their are a lot of things to consider when making this decision but the most important is do both parents agree. If you co sleep, for how long? when will you be intimate are some things to consider.

For sure, both parents need to agree. Otherwise things would get too complicated. As for finding alone time, we were concerned it would never happen again after our first, but then along came our second child. And you know what? We still find the time to share those special moments together. (Also grandparents are wonderful babysitters.)

My son was in our bed for the first month, when I moved him to a bassinette. After two months, he was in his own crib. I had no fights with him over it, which is good, but now that we have a rock solid night-time routine, he is in his crib for 12 hours a night (at four and a half months)!! At first, I missed having him right there, but we are both sleeping much better, and he is learning to be a little bit independent.

12 hours?? Wow!! I don't think I ever had that with either of my girls. I am happy that my youngest now sleeps through the night at 11 months and I get about 7 hours of solid sleep.

my son also slept much, at 10 weeks he slept from 8 pm to 530 or 6 am. At 22 months, he stopped napping and now sleeps about 11 hours - 9 out of 10 times in his drib that is soon to be replaced by a proper bed.
I still just get 7 hours of sleep, which in my case is question of prioritizing time with my husband, working, keeping in touch with everybody at home (which is Copenhagen, Denmark).

Both my daughters refused to sleep in their cribs after the age of 12 months. As toddlers, they are now both sleeping in their own beds. They seem to love the idea of being in their own rooms. They may occassionally come down from their beds and want to sleep with us in the middle of the night.

Well my daughter Rebecca she some times sleeps with me and some times sleeps in her crib i let her choose so then if she feels like she wants that comfort of sleeping next to me she can have it. But most of the time she is in the crib

Both my daughters refused to sleep in the crib after three months of age. So, they slept with us. Eventually my eldest moved into her own room. Never slept in the crib...moved right to a regular bed. To tell the truth I miss having her in bed with me. At least I still have my youngest with me.

I miss having mine in the bed to snuggle with too sometimes. But then I let her in sometimes and remember why I sleep better with her in the crib. :) She is also a kicker - and strong!

This is true...both my girls are kickers. They also seem to hog the bed and leave very little room for me. But I still love it.

My daughter has slept in her crib since we were home from the hospital. We tried to put her in a basinette by our bed the first few days but then we couldn't sleep!
She loves her crib and has always done well sleeping on her own.

My daughter has slept in her crib in her own from day one. As a new mom I had a few irrational fears about not being right next to her all the time that I had to get over, but now at three months she is only waking up once at night and she has a sleep routine that we both love. she likes her crib too which makes nap time and bed time really easy.

My son slept in our bed of and on for the first three months. I found that I was waking up constantly to make sure he was okay and I could never get any kind of sleep and I missed cuddling with my husband.

My baby prefers to sleep in our bed and did this for a few months. Then we put her in her crib pushed up to our bed with the side off. When she started crawling I put the side on her crib because I sleep much better when I don't have to wake up at every little movement to make sure she's not going to crawl off the end of our bed.
However, now if she wakes up at 3am and just wants to cuddle she is often back in our bed for the rest of the night because less than perfect sleep is better than no sleep. :)
