I had tried the baby bjorn basic model when my baby was really little and it worked well for a bit. Then it started to get really heavy and sore on the back, shoulders and neck. These carriers are really for babies when they don't weigh close to 20 lbs.I didn't think I would be able to use a carrier until I came across the Ergo carrier. This is a wonderful invention. A mom in Hawaii invented it through much research. It is really for babies 15 lbs up to 40lbs!! They need to hold their head, although they do have an infant insert. Anyhow this carrier allows the baby to sit in it rather than dangle, which i heard wasn't good for their spines or boys! It can go on the front, hip or back but the baby has to face in. My little guy has fallen asleep in it EVERY time! He really enjoys it. It's like being a marsupial and carrying your young.
