I the best Christmas gift I ever gave was when my family helped out another family who had recently lost so much in a home fire. We gave up some of our toys so they could have toys, and my dad had friends donate clothes and snowsuits for the family. We went out and bought all the fixins for Christmas dinner and we baked cookies and goodies for them. We delivered everything on Christmas eve after the boys were in bed and the Mom and Dad just cried with Joy. They didn't expect anything and we were able (with the help of friends) to give them a Christmas.
I try to do the same in small ways even when I can't afford it. I often donate gift baskets or even food if that is all I can afford, as everyone should have a Merry Christmas :)
